Woodworking: Live Edge Black Oak Box

Woodworking

Live edge wood box out of oak

My latest woodworking piece: Live edge california black oak wood box. Approximately 12x6x5. Made from an oak tree that fell down near my property last year. I harvested the wood myself with a chainsaw and dried it for over a year before starting to mill it. It has a satin oil finish (clear Rubio Monocoat) and brass hinges.  The mitered edges are keyed for strength. The inside of the lid has some black epoxy where I filled in some of the spalting. Hand made by myself, and signed on the bottom with a date. Available for purchase over at Redwood Monkey Workshop.
