CNC Woodworking: Curvy Cabinet with Textured Drawers

Woodworking

Back in September I finished two of these Curvy Cabinets with Drawers to match my last bookcase style shoe rack.

This project took a lot of time, but that is mainly because I didn’t want to rush anything. As usual, I have a build video on YouTube! Recording video also makes everything take twice as long as it normally would, and I frequently skip filming a lot of the details that just aren’t important. I usually spend a full day or two editing the footage, creating thumbnails, and posting it to various social media outlets.

The carcass sides and front face frame are all solid cherry. The back is cherry laminated MDF; it really had to be MDF to account for how wood moves. The drawers are dovetailed solid maple with 1/2″ maple ply bottoms. The face frames are machined from cherry.

I shared the CAD file with all my CAM setups and toolpaths as a free download on my workshop website. Go check them out to see how I designed it in Autodesk Fusion, or try to make a version for yourself!
