Wordpress for iphoneTuesday, August 19th, 2008Louise has a music concert tonight - Saragota - Divide LightWednesday, August 13th, 2008New blog layoutFriday, August 8th, 2008I updated my blog layout. I realize it doesn’t work that well in IE. In versions less than 7, it doesn’t support transparent png images, so the backgrounds probably look bad. In IE 7 it looks better, but there are still some problems. In particular, the top of the titles is cut off by the top border. The worst part is that there are no shadows on some of the titles; Safari supports cool text shadows. Originally, I had white text with shadows to make them stand out, but I had to move to darker text for compatibility with IE and FireFox. At least you can download and use Safari on Windows — the website looks great there! I’m quite happy with the new theme. It looks cleaner, and lays out better than my previous design (which I had borrowed from Bill at Apple). My blog layout is a WordPress theme. I can change the look of the site with a single click in my blog admin page, which is quite nice. If you want a copy of the theme files, let me know. I’ll gladly send it to you, and it should work with little to no modifications. I borrowed the “round rectangle background” CSS from Transparent custom corners and borders | 456 Berea Street. There is also some FancyZoom javascript from Cabel Sasser / Panic Inc via fancyzoom.com. Americans favor offshore drilling - Jul. 30, 2008Thursday, July 31st, 2008What the heck! did these people just call Texans? Fire in Santa Cruz MountainsThursday, May 22nd, 2008http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/feature?section=news&id=6158710 I really hope it doesn’t burn down my dad’s house, and my old treehouse….. UPDATE: I went to the house this morning (Friday) and it is still there. The winds have calmed down quite a bit, and things aren’t so bad. The fire is 20% contained, but it is still a few miles from my dad’s house. The treehouse has a broken window now…strange. I’ll have to board it up the next time I’m out there. Louise and PiperFriday, May 9th, 2008Maker Faire 2008Wednesday, May 7th, 2008I was lucky enough to not only attend this years Maker Faire, but I also got to participate as a volunteer! I was a model in the Fashion Show put on by the Swap-O-Rama. Our friend Ashley is a marvel at all things fabric. She constructed some amazing articles of clothing for us to wear. Here’s the set of pictures: And a preview: Maker Faire 2008Sunday, April 27th, 2008I’m am super pleased that I will be attending this years Maker Faire. The Maker Faire consists of a lot of DIY’ers showing off their stuff and giving lessons on how to make cool things. Some people have called it akin to Burning Man without all the dirt, dust, camping and nudity. I’ll actually be participating! On Saturday, at about 5pm, I will be in the fashion show. There will be several unicyclists strutting off some of the stuff that sewing mistress Ashley Foster has created from recycled materials. Look for Louise and myself towards the end on 20″ unicycles cruising down the catwalk. Piper the KittenSunday, April 27th, 2008Louise got me a kitten for my birthday! She is a Siamese with a Siamese manx dad, and a Siamese polydactyl mom (six fingers and six claws per hand). A full Picasa album of pictures. The six fingers: Cutest kitten ever! |
