Fire in Santa Cruz Mountains

http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/feature?section=news&id=6158710

I really hope it doesn’t burn down my dad’s house, and my old treehouse…..

UPDATE: I went to the house this morning (Friday) and it is still there. The winds have calmed down quite a bit, and things aren’t so bad. The fire is 20% contained, but it is still a few miles from my dad’s house.

The treehouse has a broken window now…strange. I’ll have to board it up the next time I’m out there.

I hope it doesn’t either! I was just telling my wife your dad’s house is over in the area they are now evacuating. :(

Do you know how close it is to the fire?

  3. corbin says:

it’s okay so far; I went over there this morning and got some stuff out of the house. It is pretty close though; apparently just a few miles away. However, the winds have died down, and it seems much safer today.

Does the house have good fire clearance? I was helping a friend off of Laurel road clear some brush around his house yesterday.

  5. corbin says:

Yeah, the house recently had the brush cleared. The fire danger is looking a lot lower than yesterday, luckily!

  6. Brian says:

    Good news!
